The first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, announced at the congress of the Armenian National Congress that he would head the party's electoral list.

"With regard to the decision on the participation of the Congress in the upcoming elections, I ask, after the end of the congress, to transfer the authority to make this decision to the newly elected board," he noted.

"If a decision is made to participate in the elections, then, naturally, I will head the list. The presence of the Congress in parliament is necessary at least so that the atmosphere of widespread cacophony, as I have already noted, does not extinguish the ray of common sense."
