The EU and the US have decided to temporarily suspend measures underlying the controversy over steel tariffs.

According to the Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, this decision is in line with the efforts to restart transatlantic relations.

The suspension of measures will create space for resolving these issues by the end of the year, he said.

Former US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from the EU, which angered Europeans and other allies. Europe responded by raising tariffs on US-made motorcycles, bourbon, peanut butter and jeans, and other goods.
