The Azerbaijani military on Thursday advanced another 1.5 km in the direction of Khoznavar village of Armenia’s Syunik Province. Khoznavar mayor Varo Grigoryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am about this Friday.

"The Turks [i.e., the Azerbaijanis] have entered our territory, the guys [of the area] have gathered, they are standing. There are soldiers, too; they are waiting, standing in front of them. The advance took place yesterday, at around 6 o'clock in the evening. They came from Ishkhanasar where they had advanced 3.5 km; in fact, now they have come [forward] again another 1.5 km after that. They have entered the territory of Armenia and went down to Khoznavar’; now they are 2.5 km away from the village," said its prefect.

According to him, the calm at Khoznavar has been disturbed, and out of concern, some local residents have even evacuated their young children. "Well, the cattle breeders have remained. What should they do? Where should they leave their animals and go? It is a village inside a canyon; we have a road that leads to Goris [town]. If it were closed, too, then our matters are ‘resolved.’ Some of the men of the village have joined the Armenian troops [in the area]; the cattle breeders could not go. If there were no animals, everyone would go," Grigoryan added.
