A 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit Qinghai, China, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported Friday.

According to reports from the Centre, the epicenter was 385 km southwest from Sinin, which has a population of over 760,000. The hotbed was at a 10 km depth.

Qinghai is one of the least populated regions of China and is the second after the autonomous region of Tibet in terms of size.
