Armenia’s acting Minister of High-Tech Industry Hayk Chobanyan today received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin.

As reported the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, greeting the guests, Chobanyan stated that high-tech industry is of strategic significance for Armenia and its economic development, adding that there is great potential for cooperation, starting from digital economy and ending with research. The acting minister highly appreciated the opportunities for cooperation between Armenia and Russia in the field of technology and expressed willingness to expand the scope of sector-specific cooperation.

The Ambassador congratulated the minister on his appointment, attached importance to the cooperation between the two countries and informed that Russia is also interested in expanding the scope of partnership and the scopes of joint programs. In particular, Kopirkin said there are already rather serious foundations for cooperation over radio electronics, Internet of Things, computer technologies, unmanned aerial vehicles, medical technologies, electronic governance, etc.

At the end of the meeting, the parties touched upon the acting minister’s working visit to the Russian Federation this summer.
