Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu says Turkey hopes the outcome of the meeting of President Erdogan and US President Biden is positive, adding that the meeting will be ‘critical’.

Cavusoglu also said it’s not easy for Turkey and the US to cooperate and there are many disagreements, adding that both parties need to take actions to improve the tense relations.

The foreign minister said even though the US government’s support to the Kurds’ self-defense forces and Fetullah Gulen and other problems are making the bilateral ties complicated, the Biden administration wants to cooperate with Turkey with regard to regional issues. “We see that the Biden administration wants to cooperate with Turkey in our region, particularly in Libya, Syria and the Caucasus,” he said, stressing that even though recognition of the Armenian Genocide has made the bilateral ties more complicated, the upcoming meeting will pave the way to the normalization of relations.
