There are 160,000,000 children involved in child labor around the world, which is 8,400,000 more than the past four years, Axios reports.

In early 2020, 63,000,000 girls and 97,000,000 boys were involved in child labor (every 10th child in the world).

Based on a report, male children work more often than female children in all age groups.

Director of the Children’s Rights Division at Human Rights Watch Jo Becker says many children work since they don’t have an alternative, adding that they have to help their families to live and that the growth of child labor is an inevitable consequence of the pandemic.
