Iranian presidential candidate Saeed Jalili decided not to run in the upcoming elections, becoming the third candidate to drop out of the presidential race, Tasnim reported.

In a statement on Wednesday, Jalili noted that he was dropping out of the election race in favor of another candidate, the current head of the country's judiciary, Ebrahim Raisi.

Earlier, Mohsen Mehralizadeh and Alireza Zakani also announced the decision to withdraw their candidacies.

The presidential elections will be held on Friday.

The number of voters eligible to vote in the upcoming elections in Iran is over 59,310,000.
