Civil Contract Party’s platform states that 9% annual economic growth will be ensured in case of a favorable external environment. This is what acting Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan told reporters after today’s government session.

“The government will draft its action plan with this logic. The challenges facing Armenia are such that 9 percent is the minimum percentage of economic growth in which case the country will be able to solve all security-related and humanitarian issues. We have a detailed plan and are currently making some adjustments,” Kerobyan said, adding that the government needs to do everything it can to improve the investment climate.

Asked how the government will ensure economic growth, taking into consideration the fact that many businessmen said they would emigrate from Armenia and stop doing business in the country in case the authorities are reelected, Kerobyan said the following: “I have a wider circle of businessmen than you [reporters], and 90% of them tell me that if there is shift of power in Armenia, they will emigrate. So, we have different views. However, I believe the government needs to do everything possible to consolidate the full potential in Armenia. I would like to call on all Armenian businessmen to get involved in nation-building. I’m at their disposal to help them solve any problems that they have.”
