The major victory of our policy is reaching an agreement on the release of Armenian prisoners of war detained in Azerbaijan which was made possible through the mediation of Georgia and the support of the United States. This is what Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili said while presenting the government’s annual report in parliament, Aliq.ge reported.

According to him, the return of the prisoners of war was an unprecedented event that highlights Georgia’s special role in ensuring peace in the region. The head of government also stated that the Nagorno-Karabakh war has caused some hardships for the whole region. He emphasized that peace and stability in neighboring countries are important for Georgia and expressed willingness to continue work for universal peace and stability.
