Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili awarded Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan with the Golden Fleece Order. The awarding ceremony took place in Batumi where Saakashvili and Erdogan opened Sheraton hotel constructed with Turkish investments.

Turkish Premier arrived in Georgia after he had held meetings in Tehran and Baku.

Georgian President noted that the issue of Iran’s nuclear program is of much importance for Georgia. He stressed that Premier Erdogan and Brazilian President managed to save the situation with nuclear program. He called it a real breakthrough and success for Europe, Iran, U.S. and entire region, including Georgia.

Saakashvili emphasized that Turkish Premier played key role in pulling down the wall between their states, as well as development of Georgia and establishment of peace for Georgia and entire world.

Erdogan thanked Georgian President for the award.
