On October 14, 2021 at around 9:05 p.m. a group of servicemen of the adversary [Azerbaijan], acting in conspiracy with two or more persons to illegally deprive a person’s life and intentionally eliminate another person’s property in particularly large amounts, with the motives of ethnic hatred, opened fire at the military post in the area of a military unit of the Defense Army with different types and different calibers of weapons.

As reported the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia, this damaged the tent set up at the mentioned military post, and 6 of the 9 servicemen who were on-duty at the military post, received fragmentary and gunshot injuries of varying degrees. The crime remained incomplete in circumstances beyond the will of the adversary.

A criminal case has been launched under the elements of crimes provided for by the Criminal Code of Armenia.

Preliminary investigation is underway, forensic medicine expert examinations have been designated, an assignment has been given to take operational intelligence measures, and other investigative actions are being taken to find out all the circumstances behind the criminal acts of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.

Based on the agreement reached by the Prosecutors General of Armenia, the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan for prompt exchange of information regarding criminal cases recorded in the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact zone, the data on the crime have also been transferred to the representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation in Armenia.

At the same time, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia expresses its willingness to turn the data regarding the incident into a subject for impartial investigation as well, in case other data are submitted by Azerbaijan.
