The World Health Organization has recommended that immunocompromised people receive an additional dose of COVID-19 vaccine due to the higher risk of breakthrough infections.

This is the name for cases of severe disease in vaccinated people, Reuters reported.

According to experts, an additional dose after the standard biphasic vaccination should be offered to people with weakened immunity or suffering from serious chronic diseases.

The head of the WHO immunization department noted that about 3.5 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the world today.
