About 1 hour ago, on October 16, at about 11 pm, the Azerbaijani armed forces opened targeted fire at the Yeraskh community of the Armenia’s Ararat region. According to alarming signals, the shootings were directed at civilian houses. The Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, informed this on Facebook
“Immediately after the shooting, a 3-4 thousands stacks of grass belonging to a resident of Yeraskh community was set on fire. Due to the timely arrival of the firefighters, the fire was isolated so that it would not spread in the direction of the houses.
These are terrorist acts. They unruliness is a direct result of the policy of hostility and fascism of the Azerbaijani authorities.
These alarming signals addressed to the RA Human Rights Defender were confirmed by objective evidence and verified through several sources within fact-finding activities.
It is obvious to the Azerbaijani servicemen know that they are causing damages to villagers, destroying their property, violating their right to life and property, destroying peaceful life and security.
This action justifies once again that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Resolution 2391 (2021) of September 27, 2021 must be implemented. This is the requirement to establish a demilitarized security zone,” Armenia’s ombudsman added.
