The impact for Armenia in the form of real growth of GDP in the whole period of integration into the Eurasian Economic Union comprises 1.4%. This is what Deputy Director of the Department of Eurasian Integration of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia Yulia Trefilova said during today’s roundtable held as part of the 8th Russian-Armenian Interregional Forum.

Trefilova added that since 2017, on average, the pace of annual economic growth of Armenia has been 0.3% higher than the indicators that could have been considered without the country’s accession to the EEU.

“In 2020, the reciprocal trade in the EEU dropped 13.6%. Nevertheless, the integration processes helped mitigate these phenomena since, without them, the fall would be almost 19%. Between 2015 and 2020, the total real GDP growth of the EEU countries comprised 3.7%, and nearly 0.5% percent of this change is the result of integration,” Trefilova said.

According to her, the current objective is to raise the level of integration to a new level, including in the sector of digitalization, taking into consideration the significant potential that Armenia and Russia have.

“The share of information and telecommunication technologies in Armenia’s GDP comprises 4%, and in Russia’s GDP — almost 3%,” she added.
