We are isolated from the world, surrounded by Azerbaijanis from all four sides, and we hope that at least the visits of pilgrims to Dadivank Monastery are restored. This is what Father Atanas Sargsyan, who is a spiritual servant at Dadivank Monastery, said during a conversation with Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We perform liturgies and homilies from within the gates to the monastery. As for the rest of the day, we read and carry out scientific works. We would like for at least the visits of pilgrims to the monastery are restored so that we have the opportunity to communicate and conduct ceremonies again. Now we are isolated from the world, surrounded by Azerbaijanis from four sides and are in uncertainty,” he stated.

In the period between the end of the war and May 2, the pilgrims attended many ceremonies at the monastery, and there were also weddings and baptism ceremonies.

According to Father Atanas, after May 2, the Ouds and Azerbaijanis are the only ones visiting Dadivank Monastery.

“The Azerbaijanis in the neighboring village listen to loud music and make offensive remarks that can be heard from within the walls of the monastery,” Father Atanas added.

On May 2, Azerbaijan banned the entry of Armenian pilgrims into Dadivank Monastery, and there are six spiritual servants.
