It is a pity that the current authorities did not draw conclusions even after the [Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)] war [last fall]. Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the opposition "Armenia" Faction in parliament and former defense minister of Armenia, stated this Sunday in Gyumri during his provincial visits.

"The series of defeats continued, Azerbaijan, the Turks appeared on the borders of Armenia. Moreover, they invaded our borders, capturing the key strategic points which are the heights, the roads, the infrastructures ensuring the viability of the border settlements of Armenia," Ohanyan added.

According to him, today the aforesaid are also an opportunity for speculation and putting pressure on Armenia.

"The main goal is that they further tighten the noose around Armenia and Artsakh, the so-called 'unblocking of transport roads' will lead to a deeper blockade in the future, it will be expressed by economic pressures and, also, the most painful: a change in our demographic profile in those regions—Syunik, Gegharkunik [Provinces of Armenia]," Ohanyan said.

As per the opposition lawmaker and former defense minister, the Turks will come to Armenia and Artsakh under the pretext of economic development and establishing ties, and as a result, the future history of Armenia will become uncertain.

Ohanyan emphasized that the main goal of their measures of the last month is the formation of Armenian national resistance.

"Today we see certain uncertainties, also in terms of the current situation in Armenia, the region. Today, some of our authorities have already put forward to the public a theory that another document of capitulation will be signed again on November 9; and I believe this document will refer globally to, as they say, ‘strengthening peace’ in the region. 'Peace' means recognizing the territorial integrity of the adversary, whereas recognizing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan means throwing a big ‘stone’ at the self-determination, destiny of Artsakh," Seyran Ohanyan concluded.
