China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet with representatives of the Taliban during his visit to Qatar.

The talks “will provide the opportunity for deep exchange of views on the current situation in Afghanistan and issues of common interest”, representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wang Wenbin said.

“Since August of this year, the situation in Afghanistan drastically changed, and the Afghan people had a historical opportunity to determine the fate of the country on their own. However, they are still facing several hardships and problems and are in dire need of foreign assistance. As a traditionally friendly neighbor and partner of Afghanistan, China has always called for dialogue and contacts to lead the situation in Afghanistan in a positive direction and help the Afghan people overcome the hardships,” he said.
