During the regular National Assembly (NA) sessions which started Tuesday, the opposition MPs welcomed with applause Artur Sargsyan, a member of the opposition "Armenia" Faction, who was entering the NA sessions’ hall and is participating in the work of the parliament for the first time after his release from detention.

Sargsyan was released on October 14. According to the court decision, he was released on a 20-million dram (approx. US$42,000) bail.

According to the investigative body, Artur Sargsyan has been charged with abusing his official position, as well as forging an official document while serving as the mayor of Sisian city of Syunik Province since October 7, 2016.
