Former deputy prime minister Armen Gevorgyan, who is now an MP from the opposition “Armenia” Faction in the National Assembly, does not rule out petitioning to international courts to protect his rights.

As reported earlier, Judge Anna Danibekyan, who presides over the court session on the criminal case against second President Robert Kocharyan and Armen Gevorgyan, on Tuesday denied Gevorgyan's new lawyer Aleksandr Kochubayev’s motion for the self-recusal of the presiding judge.

In addition, the lawyer had asked the court to submit all the case materials and the recordings of the court hearings, as well as asked for time to get familiarized with these files. But being denied again of this request, the attorney had left the courtroom.

Gevorgyan, for his part, noted that in case the situation worsens, he will petition to international courts, and that his current status enables this.
