Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had a telephone conversation on Saturday, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported. The telephone conversation took place on the initiative of the Iranian side.

The main focus was on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program, and the prospects for the resumption of respective talks in Vienna.

Also, the two FMs discussed a number of urgent matters on their bilateral and regional agenda—including the situation in and around Afghanistan, as well as the situation in the South Caucasus.
