During the online session of the Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan opposed Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov after the latter declared that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is in the past. As reported Armenpress, in his speech, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov reiterated the words of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev that ‘the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remained in the past and there are currently two regions in Azerbaijan — Nagorno-Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur’.

In response to this statement, Grigoryan stressed that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can’t be resolved by force and that the settlement of the conflict may be achieved peacefully, exclusively within the scope of the international mandate of the Co-Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“I reaffirm that Armenia has been, is and will be committed to implementing all the points in the statements of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021. Moreover, I would like to reread or restate a very important subtlety — the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can’t be resolved by force. The settlement of the conflict may be achieved peacefully, exclusively within the scope of the international mandate of the Co-Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group. In this sense, to make it to the stage of peaceful development in the region and discharge the situation, Azerbaijan needs to adopt a constructive stance and renounce the policy of aggressive rhetoric and hostile actions,” Grigoryan concluded.
