Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia Andranik Piloyan today received Chargé d'Affaires of Georgia in Armenia Irakli Kvanchakhadze.

As reported the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, Piloyan stated that Armenia and Georgia are not only centuries-old neighbors, but also fraternal and friendly countries. He emphasized that, taking into consideration the fact that the disasters posing a threat to Armenia and Georgia are similar, he attaches special importance to the close cooperation between the Ministries of Emergency Situations of both countries, the foundation for which was laid with the Treaty on Cooperation for Prevention of Natural and Technogenic Emergency Situations and Elimination of Consequences signed in 1997.

Kvanchakhadze expressed gratitude to the representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia for supporting their Georgian colleagues in putting out the forest fires in the Kharagauli National Reserve in Borjomi in August 2017.

At the end of the meeting, the Armenian minister thanked the guests for the visit and voiced hope that the draft document for expansion of cooperation between the Ministries of Emergency Situations and Internal Affairs of Armenia and Georgia will be implemented in 2022-23.
