Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan today held phone talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.

As reported the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mirzoyan presented to his Cypriot counterpart the situation created as a result of the hostilities that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces unleashed against the sovereign territory of Armenia a few days ago.

Minister Mirzoyan stated that the subsequent aggression against the territorial integrity of Armenia is continuation of the infiltration of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into the Gegharkunik and Syunik Provinces starting from May 12 of this year. He also stressed the importance of a clear and addressable response to the Azerbaijani provocations that present a danger for stability in the region.

The need for a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the mandate of the Co-Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group was also highlighted during the conversation.

During a discussion on the humanitarian issues that require urgent solutions, importance was attached to the repatriation of the Armenian prisoners of war, hostage and other persons being illegally held in Azerbaijan, as well as the ensuring of unobstructed entry of representatives of international humanitarian organizations into Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
