On January 6, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of Jesus Christ and the Epiphany, the revelation of God incarnate as Jesus Christ.

On this occasion, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II is serving a Divine Liturgy at the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Yerevan.

But no Armenian statesmen are in attendance at this liturgy. Like last year, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is not present this year either.

According to the Armenian Apostolic Church, 30 years after his birth, Christ was baptized on the same day, January 6, in the Jordan River.

In 451, the Council of Chalcedon had declared December 25 the Nativity of the Savior. And since then only the Armenian Apostolic Church continues to celebrate Christmas on January 6.
