Monday’s protest being staged outside Yerevan Zoo—and against the ongoing death of its animals—has  ended.

The picketers are a group of specialists who used to work at the zoo, and they are dissatisfied with the work of Arevik Mkrtchyan, the Director of Yerevan Zoo..

Sargis Sharamanyan, an employee of the operations department at the zoo, told reporters that he was being subjected to psychological pressure there.

"It is done to make me fed up, leave [the zoo]," he added, in particular.

The demonstrators said that they had applied to the Yerevan Municipality regarding this matter, but there was no response yet.

Five vultures—four of which were white-headed—died recently at Yerevan Zoo. There were press reports that the cause of death of these animals was food shortage. But the zoo management board denied these reports, noting that respective laboratory tests are being conducted.
