The Iranian side notified the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about the transfer of centrifuges for uranium enrichment from the facility in Karaj to Natanz, said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh.

Movement of centrifuges after sabotage to a safe place from Karaj to Natanz was carried out with the notification of the IAEA, he said. According to the diplomat, in accordance with the obligations of Iran, it is allowed to take any steps [to develop the nuclear program] in peaceful interests with notification and under the control of the IAEA.

On April 14, Reuters, citing an IAEA report, reported that Iran had launched a new plant for the manufacture of parts for centrifuges in Natanz. It was noted that the Iranian side moved the relevant equipment from its closed facility in the city of Karaj.

In June 2021, an incident occurred at the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization's Karaj facility, which the Iranian authorities described as an attempted sabotage.
