Moldova has a historic opportunity to join the European Union, and any projects aimed at bringing the country closer to the EU should not replace the path to full membership, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said at a panel in Davos, Reuters reports.

According to her, theywelcome any mechanism for rapprochement, improving their cooperation, if it does not replace the path to membership.

She added that Moldova has a historic window of opportunity to join the EU and candidate status should be granted not only to Ukraine.

Giving at this historic moment the possibility of candidate status only to Ukraine will have the consequences of creating a gray zone in Moldova, Natalia Gavrilita added.
