German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed hope for global cooperation in the fight against climate change, hunger and war, AP reported.

The German leader stepped up his criticism of Moscow's military attack on Ukraine during a speech on the final day of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting. According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to return to a world order in which the strongest dictate what is right, and not freedom, sovereignty and self-determination.

Expressing the hope that countries will work together on common crises, Scholz said that today's world is no longer bipolar, as it was during the Cold War era.

"A major nuclear power is behaving as if it has the right to redraw borders," he said. "Putin wants a return to a world order in which might dictates what is right — in which freedom, determination and sovereignty are not for everyone.

"We cannot allow Putin to win this war," the chancellor said. "It is a matter of making it clear to Putin that there will be no dictated peace — Ukraine will not accept that and neither will we."
