The countries of the Group of Seven (G7) agreed on the need to take action in order to stop the rise in energy prices. This is stated in a joint statement, which was published on Friday by the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection following the results of the G-7 meeting held in Berlin at the level of energy and environment ministers.

Effective measures need to be considered to stem the rise in energy prices caused by extreme market conditions without jeopardizing key climate policy mechanisms that facilitate the energy transition, the document says.

The G7 called on oil and gas exporting countries to act responsibly in the current global energy situation.
