Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian confirmed that Tehran is in favor of result-oriented negotiations to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, Tasnim reported.

"Iran won't distance itself from result-oriented talks," the top Iranian diplomat Hossein Amir-Abdollahian wrote in a post on his Twitter account on Friday.

He noted that Iran is continuing talks and "calls on the U.S. to be realistic and abandon sanctions lunacy, and on the IAEA to focus on technical duties instead of a politicized approach."

"We NEVER hesitate to neutralize sanctions," the Iranian foreign minister added.

Earlier, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed new sanctions against a network of Iranian firms that help export the country's petrochemical products.

The US administration under former President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in May 2018 and launched a campaign of "maximum pressure" on Iran.

Since April 2021, several rounds of talks between Iran and the five remaining parties to the JCPOA - Britain, France, Germany, China, and Russia - have been held in the Austrian capital to bring the US back into the Iran deal.
