YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: The [ruling] CC [(Civil Contract Party)] conducted internal polls, before the LSG [(local self-government)] elections to be held in about 2 dozen communities on September 25, and found out which of the possible candidates has the best chances. And the most rated were elected as candidates.

This move by CC, however, provoked internal unrest. The thing is that many [people] were promised earlier that they would be nominated, and [therefore] they started the unannounced campaign months ago, and now they are faced with the fact and are not going to support the party. Not to mention that they will try to work against the ruling party "from below" to prove that the candidates nominated by the CC are not competitive at all.
