Russia is almost impossible to disconnect from the global Internet, said Dmitry Peskov, special representative of Russian president, told RIA Novosti.

“We have prepared so that the Russian Internet will continue to exist, even if we turn it off,” he said.

Peskov clarified that in this case, local resources will continue to work, and connectors to the global Internet will be completed.

Also, according to him, Russia is not going to fence off from the global Internet.

Minister of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media of Russia Maksut Shadayev announced on June 7 that if the country is disconnected from European Internet traffic exchange points, Russia will redirect flows through Asia.

On May 25, State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the United States was urging responsible organizations not to arrange massive Internet shutdowns in Russia so that the country's residents had free access to information on the Web.
