The Upper Lars section of the strategic motorway in the direction of the Russian border is closed for all types of vehicles, an employee of the Upper Lars customs checkpoint—on the Georgian-Russian border—told Armenian News-NEWS.am about this.

"The road is closed, there is no information about the timeframes of its restoration yet," the interlocutor noted.

Thus, at the moment, no vehicles can travel along the Russian-Georgian motorway where the only checkpoint—the Upper Lars—operates.

The restrictions were imposed due to the damage of a section of the motorway leading to the Russian border.

Heavy rains fell in Georgia and near the aforesaid border crossing for two days. As a result, the aforesaid motorway’s section, which is the only road leading to the checkpoint, was damaged due to the flow from the mountains.
