G7 countries are pledging an additional $4.5 billion to protect the most vulnerable from hunger and malnutrition, G7 leaders said in a statement.

“We are determined to allocate an additional $4.5 billion to protect the most vulnerable from hunger and malnutrition,” the statement said.

That brings the total amount the G7 will commit to global food security this year to over $14 billion, the document said.

“We will fight against any speculative behavior that jeopardizes food security or access to food for vulnerable countries or communities,” the G7 leaders said.
