A passenger bus slid off a mountain road and plunged into a deep ravine during heavy rain in southwestern Pakistan on Sunday, killing 19 people and injuring 12 more, AP reported, citing the Balochistan provincial government.

Makhtab Shah, assistant administrator of Shirani district in Balochistan province, said about 35 passengers were on the bus. According to him, rescuers are looking for survivors among the wreckage of the destroyed vehicle and in the surrounding area.

Fatal traffic accidents are a common occurrence in Pakistan due to poor road infrastructure and disregard for traffic rules and poor vehicle maintenance. Last month, 22 people died in a similar crash when a bus plunged into a ravine in the Qila Saifulla area.
