The Agreement "On the implementation of joint activities by the countries participating in the Commonwealth of Independent States [(CIS)] in the field of space exploration and use for peaceful purposes" was signed on November 2, 2018 by the governments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, Avet Poghosyan, stated this during Wednesday’s debates on the ratification of this agreement at the special session of the National Assembly.

According to him, the purpose of the agreement is to define the legal and organizational bases of multilateral cooperation in the field of space exploration and use for peaceful purposes, as well as to contribute to the creation of a legal framework for the development of agreements and other arrangements in certain areas of joint space activities.

As the deputy minister noted, this agreement entered into force on September 20, 2019, but only Armenia has not ratified it so far.
