The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, told the deputies of the European Parliament about the development of sanctions against Russian gold by G7 partners.

According to him, to make sure that all our adopted sanctions are implemented and, if possible, to prevent their circumvention. In close coordination with G7 partners, we worked together a few days ago in Germany to provide for gold sanctions.

Bloomberg wrote that the European Union is working on a new package of sanctions against Russia, which is going to include a ban on gold.

Earlier, the US Treasury announced a ban on the import of Russian gold. The importation of metal was completely banned, except in cases prescribed by law or licence. At the same time, the ban does not apply to gold that was outside Russia at the time the decision came into force.
