The number of missing persons, as a result of the powerful explosion that took place Sunday at the Surmalu shopping market in Yerevan, has become 19. Hayk Kostanyan, spokesperson of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Armenia, told reporters about this on Monday.

"Another person called the 911 [hotline] service and informed that his relative is missing. It is assumed that [this person] is at the Surmalu shopping center. At the moment, we have a report about 19 confirmed missing persons and information about six confirmed casualties," said the MES spokesperson.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Armenia reported that 13 persons injured in the explosion at the Surmalu shopping market are still being treated, and they are in moderate condition.

A strong explosion took place at the aforesaid market Sunday, and there were six casualties as a result.
