US First Lady Jill Biden has fallen ill with COVID-19 and has mild symptoms of the illness, the White House said.

She was vacationing with President Joe Biden in South Carolina when she developed symptoms Monday. She was prescribed the antiviral drug Paxloid and will be isolated in a vacation home for at least five days.

The White House said Joe Biden tested negative for the virus Tuesday morning but will wear a mask indoors for 10 days as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He recovered from a recurrence of the virus on Aug. 7.
