Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted—at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the government—that the biggest problem in Armenia is setting institutions and standards.

"We are having problems when there is a disaster, or something similar to a disaster, and then we look, say, 'Why are we in compromises for several years?'"

Pashinyan stated that the Armenian government should show determination in this regard and set respective standards in the country.

"We have to record that if we continue this principled line, thousands of facilities in Armenia will simply have to stop their activities," he added, in particular.

The PM stressed that the import, making, and use of flammable materials in Armenia should be carried out by licensed organizations only.

"That is, [their] liberated sale should be prohibited. We are not saying that there should be no fireworks in the country, including on private occasions. The same is true of this street trade, which is being discussed in the capital [Yerevan] for 30 years. Principled decisions should be made and move forward," Pashinyan said.
