Turkish expert Ruben Safrastyan says he thinks that the prospect of normalizing Armenian-Turkish relations is extremely far off at this stage, especially if we consider the statements voiced by official Ankara, the expert told NEWS.am.

Turkey, according to the expert, in fact, supports Azerbaijan, instilling spirit in it and pushing it towards confrontation with Armenia.

"According to my assessments and analysis, it is Turkey that leads Azerbaijan's aggressive actions against Armenia," the Turkologist said.

At the same time, Safrastyan noted, these actions are unlikely to be limited to only clashes on the border. Baku and Ankara are pursuing far-reaching goals, he said. The case in point is the so-called "Zangezur corridor.

"It can play a very important role in terms of the implementation of pan-Turkic plans. I do not rule out that Ankara's and Baku's appetite is so big that it spreads up to the Syunik region of Armenia and even to the north. Under these conditions, the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations seems too remote to me," the expert stressed.
