The U.S. will give Ukraine $457.5 million in new civil security assistance, part of which will be used to support the government's investigation into atrocities, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Monday.

The aid is intended to help Ukrainian law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, Blinken said in a statement.

Part of this new assistance will also continue U.S. support for the Ukrainian government's efforts to document, investigate and prosecute atrocities committed by Russian forces, building on America's longstanding relationship with Ukrainian criminal justice agencies, the U.S. secretary of state said.

According to Blinken, the latest tranche of aid has increased U.S. assistance to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and their partners to more than $645 million since mid-December.
