YEREVAN. – Alfred Kocharyan, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, on Monday received a delegation led by the head of the Council of Europe (CoE) Office in Yerevan, Martina Schmidt, which is in the Armenian capital to present the Armenia media needs’ assessment report by the CoE.

Kocharyan noted that all CoE programs , including in media literacy, are a useful experience for any country, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Schmidt, for her part, informed that the CoE has prepared a report on the assessment of the needs of the media field in Armenia, which analyzes the domestic legislative field of Armenia. According to her, the results and recommendations of the needs assessment report, as well as the CoE support in the relevant domain, will be presented in the format of a panel discussion.

The members of this CoE delegation were particularly interested in the work being carried out by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports towards increasing media literacy in Armenia.

Some other matters of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
