Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar arrived in Azerbaijan on a visit, the Turkish Defense Ministry reported, the local media wrote.

During his visit Akar is accompanied by Chief of General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, General Yasar Guler, Commander of the Ground Forces, General Musa Avsever, Commander of the Navy, Admiral Ercument Tatlıoglu, Air Force Commander, Army General Atilla Gulan and other high-ranking officers.

Akar was met at the airport by Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.

The meeting, attended by other senior officials of the Azerbaijani and Turkish defense ministries, highlighted the importance of joint military exercises to further increase the level of professionalism of military personnel.

The sides discussed prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in military, military-technical, military-educational and other fields, regional security, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.
