Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had a telephone conversation today.

The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry informed NEWS.am that the two sides presented their views on the results of the October 2 meeting in Geneva.

Ararat Mirzoyan reiterated the need for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from Armenia's sovereign territory, the prompt return of Armenian prisoners of war illegally detained in Azerbaijan, and unconditional respect for the ceasefire. The inadmissibility of solving problems by force or threat of force was stressed.

In the context of preventing new aggressions the importance of introducing international mechanisms for monitoring and controlling the situation on the border was stressed.

During their telephone conversation the sides exchanged views on the development of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the creation of a discussion mechanism between Stepanakert and Baku.

An agreement was reached to continue negotiations aimed at establishing stability and security in the South Caucasus.
