The unofficial meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries will take place Friday in Saint Petersburg, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation (RF), reports RIA Novosti.

"Tomorrow RF President Vladimir Putin will be working in Saint Petersburg... a number of international phone calls; we will keep you informed. And, also, in the middle of the day, an unofficial meeting of the president with the leaders of the CIS member states is planned," Peskov told reporters Thursday.

The press secretary of the Russian head of state noted that this unofficial meeting is a very important event in the context of preparations for the CIS summit to be held next week.
