Russia opposes geopolitical intrigues that could lead to a dangerous disruption of the situation, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a weekly briefing, responding to a question about Russia's attitude towards the prospect of signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan mediated by Brussels.

"Russia quite understands that geopolitics contains certain elements of play and maneuvering. But we are against the geopolitical intrigues, which lead to a dangerous disruption of the situation. We are always ready to support those efforts which lead to tangible results. As for the Western approaches to the peace agreement, in our opinion, they are not quite balanced. And some Western mediators cannot be called peace mediators at all," she said.
