Russia and Turkey have converted part of the payments for Russian gas supplies into rubles, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters, TASS reported.

At the same time, Novak did not answer a question about whether Turkey is asking Russia for a gas discount, calling it a commercial story between buyers and consumers.

On September 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan on the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, during which he announced an agreement on Ankara paying for 25% of Russian gas supplies in rubles.
