Germany and France have initiated new sanctions against Iran over its alleged violent crackdown on women's protests, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said at a press conference in Berlin on Friday.

According to her, she will continue to be the voice of these people who came out to protest in Iran. The FM added that Iran's ambassador to Berlin has already been called to the carpet twice in connection with the situation surrounding the protests.

Germany is leveraging against those responsible for the violent repression the means they have at their disposal, she said noting that these include the new sanctions that they have initiated with France at the European level, in addition to the existing sanctions packages, which number over 550 entities, institutions or persons in Iran.
